Good prospects for wine trading; Asian demand remains buoyant
As Asian consumers are becoming more wine literate, the global wine industry is shifting its attention to Asia. According to Euromonitor International, wine sales in Asia amounted to US$77.5 billion in 2014, up 54% compared to five years ago. For 2013-2018, wine sales are forecast to grow 4.4% per annum in value. Sales in China are more spectacular, with an amount of US$48.1 billion in 2014, up 116% compared to five years ago. For 2013-2018, sales are forecast to grow 6.1% per annum in value. The optimistic business outlook will continue to encourage wine trade across the Pacific Ocean and fuel the vibrant wine market.
Portugal, 2015 Partner Country; Global wine sellers under one roof
Organisations from a number of traditional and emerging wine-producing countries have confirmed pavilions at the approaching fair to showcase their featured wines. They include Consulate General of the Argentine Republic, Wine Australia, Austrian Wine Marketing Board, Sopexa, Wines of Germany, Wines of South Africa, Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, ProMexico and etc.
Asia’s premium wine and spirits competition
The Seventh Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is open for entries until 11 September. An adjudicating panel comprising Asia’s top wine judges will take into account the Asian palate and consumption culture as they select the best wines of the year, the results of which can serve as the ultimate wine guide for Asia’s wine consumers.
